Stand Against Hate
In Solidarity Against Hate
Divisive and inflammatory political rhetoric, media narratives and disinformation are fueling a rise in Islamophobia and antisemitism in Texas and across the country. As a proud Texas organization, we are united with other organizations across our state to denounce all forms of hate. We invite all Texans to unite against all forms of hate and to stand for peace for all – now and in the future.

Condemnation of Violence Targeting Asian Women in Atlanta
Asian American Democrats of Texas (AADT) condemns the vicious serial murders of Asian women that took place in Atlanta, Georgia, and expresses our condolences to the families and friends of the victims. This is a direct result of the hatred sown by the previous administration.
“We must stand up against the tidal wave of anti-AANHPI hate and push our communities and elected officials to do more,” said AADT spokesperson. “This attack on Asian women has a clear race component and is rooted in a history of violence and fetishization directed towards women of Asian descent.”
Elevating the perpetrator’s perspective over voices and data of the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) community is a significant problem. AANHPI women, in particular, are often overlooked victims of violence. A poll commissioned by the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum (NAPAWF) reveals that nearly half of AANHPI women have been affected by anti-AANHPI racism in the past few years, with more than 68% of reported incidents of anti-AANHPI harassment and violence involving women.
AANHPI communities across the nation, including in Texas, are experiencing a rise in attacks due to the stoking of racial resentment against AANHPIs in light of the pandemic. Anti-AANHPI hate is rising in America.
We call on our local, state, and elected officials to stand up to anti-AANHPI hate and racism and enact safety regulations, including gun safety measures, to allow Asian women and others to feel safe in their communities while living their daily lives and working in various industries.
Texas has the third-highest number of AANHPIs. Since 2010, more Asian than Latinx immigrants have arrived in the U.S. each year. AANHPIs represent the fastest-growing racial or ethnic segment of the U.S. electorate. We call on all Texans to foster an environment that promotes inclusivity and the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness. We cannot let this tragic moment set the stage for more pain and suffering.
We urge Texans to report any hateful incidents to the following:

Condemnation of Racist Attacks on Asian Americans
Asian American Democrats of Texas (AADT) condemns the hatred directed at Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPI). We respectfully call on bipartisan leadership to stop spreading unfounded lies, which serve only to divide our diverse communities and expose those of us who are already vulnerable to verbal, physical, and virtual attacks.
AADT condemns the hateful rhetoric coming from the previous administration, legislators and politicians who have referred to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) as the “China Virus,” “Wuhan Virus,” and/or the “Kung Flu”. These words matter deeply, as they negatively target our AANHPI community and are therefore highly unacceptable, especially coming from national leaders.
AADT strongly urges them to withdraw their hateful rhetoric, publicly apologize to our community, and cease spreading racism at a time when we must focus on averting global crises. Our leadership must rise to the occasion, rather than further endanger our lives.
AADT respectfully urges its members and delegates to stand with our fellow AANHPIs as we weather this difficult time together. Please reach out to communities affected by this senseless racism and contact elected officials to urge them to stop using hurtful language that targets our own.
